Sunday is the closer. The Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance takes over the 18th fairway at Pebble Beach Golf Links on August 16, and after ten days of engines and auctions and lawns, this is the one the rest of the world watches.
2026 marks the 75th anniversary, which raises the stakes on an event that was already the summit of the collector-car calendar. The field is invitation-only and judged to a standard most people never see in person: pre-war coachwork, significant racing cars, marque anniversaries, all polished past the point of reason and set on grass above the water.
Dawn is the secret. Cars arrive at first light in a ritual the concours calls Dawn Patrol, rolling onto the fairway in the fog while the crowd is still thin. Serious spectators come for that and treat the afternoon judging as the second act. By late day the Best of Show winner crosses the ramp, and Car Week is over for another year.
Tickets are timed and expensive, parking is remote with shuttles, and the coastal morning is cold before it is warm. Layers, comfortable shoes, patience. If you have never gone, the Dawn Patrol ticket is the one to chase, since the fog and the quiet are the version of Pebble Beach that photographs never quite catch.
