The Monterey Bay Sirens begin their first season this year, and the Peninsula gets a women’s side to stand alongside the men. The Sirens play in the USL W League, a fast-growing pre-professional summer competition, in its Northern California division, with home matches at Cardinale Stadium in Seaside.
An inaugural season is its own kind of event. The roster is new, the rivalries are still forming, and the crowd is writing the first chapter of what this becomes. The USL W League pairs collegiate players with rising talent, and for a lot of fans it is the most accessible high-level soccer on the calendar: family-friendly, affordable, and played through the summer.
The Sirens sharing a home with Monterey Bay FC means the Peninsula can build a real soccer summer, with fixtures from both sides across the same grounds. It is early, but that is the fun of it. This is the season the club’s story starts, and the people in the stands now are the ones who will say they were there first.
