Monterey Current is the Peninsula’s local edit, and this is where it lives.
The idea is simple. Events, food, sport, arts, and what is opening and closing, covered by people who live here and read the primary sources — the city calendars, the match reports, the weather service — rather than rewriting someone else’s story. We care about the specifics that make a place feel like itself: the block, the time, the score, the dish, the name of the chef, the number on the door.
The heart of the site is the events calendar. Filter by town or by what you are in the mood for, search a venue, and subscribe to the whole thing as a feed so you stop finding out about the good ones the day after. Alongside it, a running Car Week 2026 collection tracks the biggest ten days on the Peninsula’s calendar, and the section pages — News, Sports, Eats, and Arts — keep the running coverage in one place.
We are not a tourism board and we are not a press-release feed. The scope is the Monterey Peninsula: Monterey, Carmel, Pacific Grove, Pebble Beach, Seaside, Sand City, Del Rey Oaks, Marina, CSUMB, and Big Sur, with Salinas and the Salinas Valley when it matters to Peninsula readers.
