Cal State Monterey Bay fields a full slate of NCAA Division II athletics, and the Otters are the closest thing the Seaside campus has to a Saturday tradition.
CSUMB competes in the California Collegiate Athletic Association, the CCAA, one of the stronger Division II conferences in the country, across sports from men’s and women’s soccer and basketball to golf, track and field, cross country, softball, and volleyball. The programs draw from a campus built on the old Fort Ord grounds, and the Otter Soccer Field and Otter Sports Center sit just off the main loop, close enough that a game is an easy walk from most of campus.
Student admission is typically free with an ID, and general admission stays affordable, which makes Otters athletics one of the better value tickets on the Peninsula. The soccer programs in particular have carried the flag in recent years, and CCAA matchups bring quality opponents from up and down the state.
College sport here is easy to overlook and easy to enjoy. We track the home schedule so you know when there is a game worth walking over for.
